Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to have a completed script or treatment to pitch an idea?
More pitches than spec scripts are sold in Hollywood every year, so it's not necessary to have a completed project before you pitch it. A good idea will find its audience — and the team of creatives needed to bring it together. So go ahead — pitch away! And let us know if we can help!

Who will see my Visual Pitch or 3V?
We actively market this site to film, television, theatre, and music industry professionals from around the world. Any agent, manager, producer, distributor, or other executive wishing to search for new material on the site must first register with My Visual Pitch .com and provide two industry references. Once these references are cleared, the industry professional may access Visual Pitches by searching by Artist or genre. This means that potentially thousands of industry professionals can view your material at any time, from anywhere in the world.
Yeah, yeah, mumbo-jumbo. Who is watching my stuff? (Awright, already: go look.)
How much does it cost to Join My Visual Pitch .com?
Qualified Industry Professionals may register and join the site for free and enjoy unlimited browsing.
Artists may join My Visual Pitch .com for free, but we do charge a small subscription fee to make your materials available for browsing by industry professionals. Oh — and we'll throw in a FREE logline consultation with your subscription. That's a $49 value, free to you. Because we love you.
Wait. Artists have to pay to upload a Visual Pitch? Why?
Look around the site. See anything missing? Like, say, annoying popup advertisements, banners, and flash ads hawking the latest in home owner's insurance? We don't allow advertising on the My Visual Pitch .com website because we won't allow anything to distract from what we're here to show the Industry Pros: YOUR STUFF.
Our small subscription fee helps pay for site bandwidth and administration and the extensive cost of marketing My Visual Pitch .com to Industry Professionals, the trades, and other media outlets. Best of all, it keeps the MVP Artist right where he or she belongs: at center stage.
Oh — and we throw in a FREE logline consultation with every subscription. That's a $49 value, free to you. Because we love you.
Does Visual Pitching really work?
Three words: Yes, yes, and yes. (Okay, that was four words.) We've got an amazing 1 in 4 success rate, and not only has the industry response to MVP been overwhelmingly positive, but our artists consistently recommend the site to others.
But don't take our word for it: read the buzz for yourself, or better yet, check this out.
Which costs more, an MVP subscription or a traditional by-mail pitch campaign?
What would it cost to pitch an industry professional the traditional way? Subscription rates on other logline upload sites are comparable to MyVisualPitch.com (though some are inexplicably higher), but you don't have the distinct advantage of letting your Visual Pitch do the showing. What about sending a pitch letter through the mail? Assuming you had the time to print out each letter and address the envelopes, postage alone would quickly surpass the cost of uploading a Visual Pitch. If you were to send a pitch letter via US mail to 100 producers, that would cost you $42. 500 producer pitches would cost $210. And 1,000 producer pitches would set you back $420… just for a one-time mailing. MyVisualPitch.com is targeting industry pros from across the country and into Europe and the United Kingdom, so our reach is virtually unlimited.
What do your members say about the My Visual Pitch .com experience?
Find out here.
What is the first thing an A&R rep asks after hearing a new band or artist's demo? "What do they look like?" The second thing? "What else have they got?" (Well, the first and second things if you're any good, which we're sure you are.) A&R types need to know how they're gonna market you, and in order to do that they need to know what you sound like beyond that one-time, hooky little tune you caught their ears with.
But they don't have all day, either. In fact, they don't have 9 minutes (3 songs, 3 minutes per song). But they probably do have 1 minute, so that's you're chance to hook 'em. And that's where a 3V comes in.
Think of a 3V as a virtual showcase gig: a three-part sound and video experience highlighting your unique sound and vision that leaves them asking for more. Let My Visual Pitch .com book your showcase gig (virtually, that is).
How long should a Visual Pitch or 3V be?
Think movie trailer length. That's about 30 seconds to one minute. If you simply have to have more time, a minute and a half is pushing it, but still acceptable. Remember, Industry Professionals are busy people with limited prospecting time. Best to hit hard and fast, and leave them asking for more. We're good at that.
Can't I just upload my (logline, screenplay, song, lyrics) without a Visual Pitch?
Certainly. In fact, you can join My Visual Pitch .com for free and upload your written materials to your very own artist page at that time. When you're ready to be seen, upgrade to a Silver, Gold, or Platinum subscription pacakage and activate your account for browsing by industry professionals.
If you decide to go visual, you can upload a Visual Pitch to your artist page at any time during the life of your subscription. And if you need a little help bringing your vision to life, we've got you covered. We'll even throw a FREE logline consultation your way once you join. That's a $49 value, free to you. Because we love you.
I'm totally lost. Where do I begin?
No problem! Jump over to the how it works section of the site for some handy tips and tricks on how to get started. And if you need some hands-on help, we offer a full range of consulting services.
I'm creating a Visual Pitch and I need (score, sound design, voiceover talent, etc.). Can you help?
We sure can. Everyone on the Creative Team at My Visual Pitch .com is an artist of some kind — we've got writers, actors, musicians, editors, and there might even be an extreme pottery thrower somewhere in the mix. (Kidding about the sculptor. We don't even know what "extreme pottery" would consist of.) So we can help with things like storyboard, sound design, image selection, video editing, voiceover acting, and film scoring.
Jump over to our consulting services page and take a look, or contact us for more information.
How much does it cost to upload a Visual Pitch or 3V?

It is safe to pitch my ideas here?
At My Visual Pitch .com we're commited to safeguarding your ideas. That's why the site is exclusive to its Industry Pro and Artist members, and why artists can't share their pages with other artists on the site or with people outside the MVP community. Only you and our Industry Pros can view your material; the site is not open to the public.
We check references on every Industry Professional who applies for an account with us. If the references don't check out, we don't sign the Pro up; period. That being said, we've been attracting serious industry players from day one and we're very pleased to have them on the site. Have a look yourself and see if you don't agree that we've got some of the best Hollywood has to offer.
As a final note: Please know that the surest way to safeguard your material is to register it with the U.S. Copyright Office (writers, musicians) and/or the Writers Guild (writers). We do our part to safeguard your stuff; be sure to do yours.
Don't studios steal ideas all the time? How do I know they won't steal mine?
That's a good question, and a typical one. The short answer is: some do, but the best don't bother.
The simple fact is that a reputable industry pro would much rather option your material than steal it. Why? Because of the legal fees involved with having to prove that he or she didn't steal it. (Um… and also because they're professionals.)
